Jean Hughes, 75, of Pampa, died December 2, 2014 in Pampa. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hughes was born on March 7, 1939 in Sterling, Colorado. She attended schools in Colorado. She worked for Gibson’s store and then she went to work for Wal-Mart and was employed there for over 20 years. Jean liked the crafts, where she enjoyed crocheting, stamping, and scrap-booking. Jean also loved to bowl whenever she could. Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her father, H. H. Hughes and mother, Vera Johnson, stepfather, Mike Johnson, 4 brothers, J. R. Hughes, Bob Hughes, Don Hughes, and Mike J. Johnson, a sister, Betty Quebedeaux, a grandson, Matthew Owens, a granddaughter, Mashonda King Urbanczyk, and by a great-grandson, Bentley Smith. Survivors include three daughters, Pam Spencer-Lowrey and husband Crickett of Pampa, Debbie McGill and Cheryl Wright, both of Enid, Oklahoma; a son, Michael McGill, of Pampa; a sister, Dorothy Pennington of Manchester, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice for their wonderful care of Mrs. Hughes.
