Tanita Louise Gowin, 49, died December 7, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor, and Joe Millican, chief of the Hoover Volunteer Fire Department, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Gowin was born August 22, 1965 in Dodge City, Kansas. She had been a lifelong resident of Pampa, attending Pampa High School. She received an Associate’s Degree in business from Clarendon College, and a certificate from Exposito School of Hair Design. Tanita was a certified firefighter with the Hoover Volunteer Fire Department for over 15 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She volunteered with the American Red Cross, Tralee Crisis Center and many other organizations. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Gowin in 2013. The family wants to extend a special thank you to Rhonda Van Hagan, Kitty O’Cairre and Raelynn Koenig for their love and care of Tanita. Survivors include two sons, Ricky Spiller and wife Cindy of Midland, and Jonathan Olson of Pampa; her mother, Rose Ann Gowin of Pampa; two grandchildren, Jaqueline Spiller and Colton Spiller; two sisters, Tamilan Dallas and husband Alan of Pampa, and Teresa Dodd of Lubbock; her brother, Charles “Bubba” Gowin of Pampa; four nieces, Alisha Dallas, Addena Dallas, Mecca Dodd, and Arin Dallas; three nephews, Christopher Gowin, Braden Gowin and Dakota Gowin and girlfriend Kasey Spears; one great-niece, Payton Gowin; and four great-nephews: Daxton Dallas, Azdyn Dallas, Conner Gowin and Ryan Likes. Memorials may be offered to the Hoover Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 820, Pampa, Texas 79066-0820. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
