Hazel O. Gray

Hazel O. Gray, 102, formerly of Pampa, entered the Gates of Heaven on December 10, 2014 in Mansfield. Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Pastor Jimmye Cole of First Church of the Nazarene of Pampa, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Hazel was born May 28, 1912, in Clark County, Kentucky. She had been a resident of Pampa from 1931 until moving to Mansfield in 2011. She married Eddie Lee Gray on July 12, 1931 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2000 after 69 years of marriage. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Pampa for 76 years where she served as the church organist, a Sunday school teacher and various other church positions. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Ella Haggard Epperson; her son-in-law, Jim Howard; and 4 siblings. Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie L. Howard and Marilyn May and husband Tom, all of Mansfield, and Dorothy A. Edgerton and husband Howard of Yukon, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home in Pampa.
