Leon Herbert Richter

Leon Herbert Richter, 89, of Pampa, died December 12, 2014 in Borger. Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Erickson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Richter was born on June 20, 1925 in Lamesa where he attended schools. He came to Pampa in 1952 from Lamesa. Leon served in the U. S. Army. He married Leona Johnson, and she preceded him in death on January 10, 1952. Leon later married Cassie Chesher in Pampa, and she preceded him in death on February 19, 1990. He worked for several area drilling companies, and retired as a tool pusher for Service Drilling Company, after many years of service. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. In his spare time, he loved fishing. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda K. Wood of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Cindy Hinds of Pampa; four grandchildren, Carl Hinds of Pampa, Stephen Sheffield, Stefanie K. Sheffield and Trey M. Wood, all of Yukon, Oklahoma; and a great-granddaughter, Kodie Renee Wood of Yukon, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to Pampa Senior Citizens, 500 W.
