Paul E. Gercken, 96, passed away December 26, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Mike Watson of Hobart Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Gercken was born on August 9, 1918 in Noble, Oklahoma. He was reared and attended schools in Oklahoma. Shortly after graduation he participated in the Civilian Conservation Corps for a few years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving in WWII. He met Jessie Overton and soon they would get married on January 8, 1950 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on October 5, 2012. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Pampa where he went to work for the City of Pampa and retired there after 23 years of employment. He was a long time member of the Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ. Mr. Gercken will be remembered as a hard-working man and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by his family. Paul was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Rusty Yeager; and daughter-in-law Iris Lee Gercken. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Yeager and Becky Watson and husband Randy, all of Pampa; two sons, Doyle Gercken and life partner, Jim Montgomery of Dallas and Tommy Gercken of Pampa; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
