Bill Washington, 87, died Saturday, December 27, 2014, in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the First Christian Church with Dr. Jeff Knighton, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Washington was born October 10, 1927 in Pampa where he had been a lifelong resident. Bill attended Pampa High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he played baseball in Japan at the end of WWII. He married Emily Lancaster on March 18, 1949 in Pampa and they were happily married 65 years. Bill helped coach his sons baseball teams in the Optimist Club and he always enjoyed his time with family. Bill was an operator for the Dorchester Gasoline Plant and retired in 1984 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Hidden Hills Golf Course where he was active in the Senior Golf Association where he helped build the club house. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mittie Washington, Sr.; one son Terry Washington on March 19, 2007; two sisters, Virginia Tate and Clara Imel; and a brother James Washington, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Emily of the home; one daughter, Sherry Watson and husband Deon of Pampa; one son, Tommy Washington and wife Tracy of Pampa; one sister, Donna Sims and husband Wayne of Dallas; five grandchildren, Michelle Watson of Canyon, Ryan Watson and friend Rachel Zeck of Amarillo, Angela Walker and husband Jimmie of Duncan, Oklahoma, Camron Washington and Nathan Washington both of Pampa. Many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to; First Christian Church, 1633 N. Nelson, Pampa, Texas 79065 or to your favorite charity.
