Kay Newman, 64, died January 1, 2015 in Pampa. Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Newman was born October 11, 1950 in Homer, Louisiana. She was a 1968 graduate of Lefors High School and received an Associate’s degree from Tyler Junior College in 1971. Kay married Cecil Newman on February 6, 1971 in Lefors. Kay worked at Citizens Bank & Trust and First National Bank in Pampa for many years, and retired as manager of Pam-Cel Credit Union. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Altrusa Club International, Top O’ Texas Square Dancers and Krankers Car Club. Kay enjoyed playing tennis for many years. Survivors include her husband, Cecil Newman of the home; two sons, John Bradley Newman of Amarillo, and Ty Allen Newman and wife Cassandra of Bloomington, Illinois; her mother, Virginia Hollenshead of Haynesville, Louisiana; four brothers, Edwin Hollenshead and wife Linda of Haynesville, Louisiana, David Hollenshead and wife Pat of West Monroe, Louisiana, Robert Hollenshead and wife Joyce of Grand Saline, and Jerry Hollenshead and wife Barbara of Gainesville; two sisters, Johnette Oakes and husband Glynn of Magnolia, and Joy Hasley and husband Hugh of White Oak; a grandson, Jordyn Newman of Bloomington, Illinois; two brothers-in-law, N. L. “Slim” Newman of Pampa, and John Newman and wife Diane of Edmond, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Quarles of Stinnett, and Brenda Parks of Pampa; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorials may be made to BSA Hospice through the Harrington Cancer Foundation, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79065. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM on Monday, January 5, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
