Paulyne Sable “Penny” Newman, 87, of Pampa, died January 8, 2015 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, January 12, 2015, at Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, with Keith Feerer, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Newman was born February 10, 1927 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended schools in Foyil, Oklahoma, and was a 1946 graduate of Phillips High School. She married J. R. Newman on December 5, 1954 in Clayton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1995. Penny was a graduate of Amarillo College School of Nursing and was a licensed vocational nurse for the Kelley-Laycock Clinic for 15 years, and then for several Pampa hospitals for many years. She was a 50-year member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ. Penny was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Billie Sable; two brothers, Pat Sable and Gene Sable, and a granddaughter, Michelle Broussard. Survivors include three daughters, Tamara Duncan and husband Rick of Bandera, Gloria Newman of Bedford, and Heidi Chronister of Pampa; a son, Kelley Newman and wife Martha of Fritch; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
