J. Frank Conner, 96, died January 15, 2015 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, January 19, 2015, at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Conner was born July 30, 1918 in Avant, Oklahoma. He came to Pampa in 1928 from Avant and was a 1936 graduate of Pampa High School. He married Mary Phillips on April 19, 1937 in New Deal. She preceded him in death in 2004. Frank served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and was discharged as a private first class. Frank worked for many years as an oilfield driller, mainly for Frazier Drilling and Stahlco Drilling. He was a member and deacon of Central Baptist Church and was a member of the Pampa VFW Post #1657. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sally Conner, four sisters, three brothers and a great-grandson. Survivors include three sons, Joe Conner and Jim Conner, both of Pampa, and Richard Conner and wife Pat of Allen; a daughter, Donna Eller and husband Tim of Missouri City; a sister, Freddie Seitz of Pampa; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
