Joe C. Autry, 86, of Pampa, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Patterson, Rev. Todd Dyess, Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane, and Rev. Dr. Ran Loy, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Autry was born Oct. 2, 1928 in Crowell, Texas. He came to Pampa as a small child and was a 1946 graduate of Pampa High School. Joe married Norma Jo Brown on March 28, 1948 in Pampa. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1995 after 47 years of marriage. He later married Jeane Brown Roper on Feb. 14, 1997 in Hawaii. Joe worked for Ford’s Body Shop for 50 years before his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist, member and vice-president of the Koinonia Sunday School Class, and a longtime member of the Chancel Choir. Joe was also preceded in death by his parents, Kit and Ruby Autry, a sister, June Autry, a grandson, Clint Brown, a great grandson, Jackson Patterson, a brother-in-law, Sam Condo, and a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Sherrod. Survivors include his wife, Jeane Autry, of the home; two daughters, Vicki Patterson and husband Bill of Tulsa, OK and Jan Rose and husband Tom of Amarillo; two stepsons, Ronny Brown and wife Cindy of McLean and Don Brown and wife Darla of Borger; a sister-in-law, Brenda Condo, of Pampa; a brother-in-law, Joe Ed Sherrod, of Dallas; five grandchildren, Clint Patterson and wife Shay of Tulsa, OK, Heath Rose of Dallas, Zac Rose and wife Michele of Amarillo, Tatum Alexander and husband Chris of Dallas and Cassi Rash and husband Marty of Canadian; eight great grandchildren, Emmaus and Gabriel Patterson, Morgan and Halle Rose, Cambree and Caison Brown, and Hagan and Heston Rash; and several nieces and nephews including Terry Simmons of Amarillo, and Ray and Brad Condo, both of Pampa.. Memorials may be made to Pampa Meals on Wheels, P. O. Box 939, Pampa, TX 79066-0939 or First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 1981, Pampa, TX 79066-1981. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM Monday at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
