Charlie Neal Gee, 99, died January 23, 2015 in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, with Rev. Mark White, pastor of Union Presbyterian Church of Brownwood, officiating. Memorial services will be at 1:30 PM Thursday, January 29, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Jim Friedewald, pastor, and Nancy Ruff, commissioned ruling elder, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Gee was born February 2, 1915 in Thorndale, Texas to Barnett and Kathryn Badu Young. She graduated from Breckinridge High School and Draughon’s Business School in San Antonio. She received a B.A. degree from Howard Payne College in Brownwood with a degree in business administration. She served her country during World War II, by working for the 8th Service Command, Army Services Forces, Camp Hood, Texas, then taught for 2 years at Howard Payne College, followed by work with the Department of Welfare and several law firms. She married Owen Fuller Gee on January 17, 1959 in Pampa. Charlie Neal had been a resident of Pampa since 1947, moving from Brownwood where she was the assistant manager of the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce for six years. She was an administrative secretary for Cabot Corporation for 11 ½ years, retiring in 1959. Charlie and Owen worked with Cabot in many countries, including France and the Netherlands, returning to Pampa in 1961. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1998. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Gray County Texas Genealogical Society, Knife & Fork Club, Twentieth Century Culture Club, Pampa Garden Club, and Community Concert Association. She was an amateur photographer and a member of the Amarillo Photographic Society. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Hardin Young, in 1933. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Patricia Sides of Corpus Christi; four step grandsons: Edward Owen Sides and Van Kent Sides and wife Karen, all of Austin, Charles Christopher Sides of Corpus Christi, and Patrick Owen Sides and wife Nettie of Robstown; nine step great-grandchildren and several step great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Carol Gee, Esq., of San Francisco, California.
