Eugene "Gene" Hinds

Eugene “Gene” Hinds, 71, of Pampa, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Kyle Ohsfeldt, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Hinds was born Aug. 17, 1943 in Phillips and was a 1961 graduate of Pampa High School. He served in the U. S. Army for four years and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. He married Cindy Turner on Feb. 28, 1985 in Pampa. Gene worked for TxDOT as a maintenance supervisor for 25 years, retiring in 2004. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Hinds, of the home; two sons, Jimmy Hall and wife Tabby of Pampa and Justin McPherson of Amarillo; four daughters, Jeena Jones and husband Gary, Christa Pennington and husband Chris, Kelsi Hinds, and Jodi Estep, all of Pampa; two brothers, Larry Hinds and wife Trudi of Hooker, OK and Pody Hinds and wife Brenda of Pampa; nine grandchildren, and a great grandson. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Fannie Hinds, two brothers, Sonny Ricketts and Kenneth Hinds, his mother-in-law, Barbara Frei, and two sisters-in-law, Robin Fritts and Arla Yount.
