Gary D. Brewer, 71, of Pampa, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Brewer was born on Sept. 5, 1943 in New Brunswick, Canada, and he was raised in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. As a young man, he played hockey and also played hockey as a senior adult in the “Old Timer’s League.” Gary worked as an auditor for an automobile company for many years. He was a member of the Anglican Church in Canada. Gary moved to Pampa in 2005, and shortly thereafter, he married Jan McCarthy on Oct. 28, 2005 in Pampa. He attended Central Baptist Church. Gary loved to play golf at Hidden Hills where he met his two best friends, John McGuire and Melvin Ball, and they played together whenever they could. Gary will be remembered as a very compassionate and charitable man who put others before himself, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Jan Brewer, of the home; two sons, Harry Brewer and wife Alanna of Kingston, Ontario and Terry McCarthy of Pampa; two daughters, Cherry McCarthy and Lori McCarthy, both of Pampa; two grandsons, Owen Brewer of Kingston, Ontario and Chase McCarthy of Pampa; a granddaughter, Ella Brewer of Kingston, Ontario; a great granddaughter, Wynter McCarthy of Pampa, a great grandson, Cyrus McCarthy of Pampa, and by five brothers, Bob, Paul, Donnie, Richard, and Jimmy, all of Canada. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Violet Brewer. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 513 E. Francis, Pampa, TX 79065.
