Wanda Gale Cargill Powers

Wanda Gale Cargill Powers, 81, of Pampa, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, in Pampa. There will be no services. Mrs. Powers will lie in state at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home on Sunday and Monday. Private entombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Powers was born Dec. 23, 1933 in Rule, Texas to Ed A. and Ollie Mae Nichols Cargill. She married Harold “Slats” Powers on April 19, 1957 in Clovis, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2008. Wanda worked for Marie Foundations, Pampa Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, Pete’s Greenhouse, and Freeman’s Flowers. She was a Baptist and attended the Carpenter’s Church. Wanda was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny Gale Powers, and by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Powers Stewart of Amarillo; a son, Jimmy Powers of Pampa; a granddaughter, Chelsie Lynn Powers Young of Oklahoma City; and a great granddaughter, Jacie Sierra Adcock of Oklahoma City.
