David Dale McKnight, 71, of Pampa, left his family and many friends February 22, 2015 in Pampa. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa, Tx. David was born March 2, 1943 to William Dale & Nora Broyles McKnight in Durant, Ok. He married Helena Heuston Ellis on October 11, 1997. David served in the United States Navy as an aviation mechanic. His tour was extended because of the Cuban missile crisis. David retired from Celanese after 32 years and again from B&B Solvent after 12 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the many trips he made on his Harley, especially his trip to Alaska. After retirement, he piddled in his vegetable garden, anxiously awaited the arrival of the Purple Martins and Sunday afternoon with his Lefors cronies. David was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Kimberly and one son, David Jr. (Davy). Survivors include his wife of the home, Helena; sons Joel (Kim) McKnight of Houston; Dean (Sheri) McKnight of Austin; Kevin (Stephanie) McKnight of Amarillo; step-son Randall (Jackie) Ellis of Perrin; one step-daughter Carrie (DeWayne) Hair of Pampa; sister Betty McKnight of Pampa; brother Larry (Shirley) McKnight of Comanche; 9 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of the care givers who helped take care of David. The family suggests memorials be made to your favorite cancer organizations.
