Clyde Leland Davis, Sr., 91, of Pampa, died February 27, 2015 in McLean. Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Ken Branum, chaplain of Accolade Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Davis was born December 26, 1923 in Poteau, Oklahoma. As a young man he farmed around Central Oklahoma ending up in Dixon, Oklahoma. While in high school, Clyde was involved in Golden Gloves boxing. Clyde graduated from Dixon High School in 1941. After graduation, he farmed until he entered the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers where he served Normandy D-Day plus 6 and the Northern France Theater receiving two Bronze Service Stars. After Clyde was discharged he met and married Imogene Ford on November 9, 1945 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Clyde worked part-time at the air base when the kids were small, and he later went to work in the oilfield in the early 1950’s and settled down and resided in the Pauls Valley, Oklahoma area. Clyde had been a resident of Pampa since 1973 where he worked in the oilfield. He married Vera Mae Sparks on November 22, 1973 in Wheeler, and she preceded him in death on April 14, 2006. Clyde owned and operated C. L. Davis Well Service from 1984 until his retirement in 2011. He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Sparks, three brothers and 2 sisters. Clyde enjoyed being home with family. He loved OU Football, Judge Mathis and playing board games especially Polly-Anna and poker with family. Clyde loved spending time in the outdoors and visiting the farm in Oklahoma. The family would like to thank Accolade Hospice for their loving care. Survivors include four daughters, Linda Gayle York of the home, Brenda Angel, Llaine Brookshire and husband Terry all of Pampa and Iris Camille Davis of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; 2 sons, Clyde Davis, Jr. and wife Paulette of Palm Springs, California, Larry Davis and wife Linda of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, LeaNan Sparks of Pampa; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
