Margie Miller, age 93, of Gatesville, formerly of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Gatesville, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 6, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gatesville, with the Rev. Buddy Wheat officiating. The family will receive visitors following the services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, Texas. Arrangements are by Scott's Funeral Home of Gatesville. Margie was born on April 6, 1921 in Saffordville, Kansas. She was the daughter of the late Walter Earl “Doc” Leith and Ethel Lowman Leith. At a young age, they moved to Canadian, Texas due to the Depression, where the family managed a large ranch. After World War II, they relocated to Pampa, where she met and married Royce Paul Miller in 1948. They owned and operated a large grocery store, Miller Grocery and Market for over 30 years in Pampa. In 1951, they were blessed with the birth of their only child, Gayle Leith. Her husband Paul preceded her in death in 1968. In 2001, she moved in with her daughter and husband Buddy Wheat, living with them at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and Carlisle, Pennsylvania, before relocating back to Texas in Gatesville in 2010. She enjoyed playing guitar, playing in several country western bands over the years. She was a very accomplished artist, painting mostly landscapes and western art and an avid reader. Margie was known for her many talents and loved telling stories of her family that had been passed down. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage. She loved animals, children and her church. Mrs. Miller was also preceded in death by a sister, Emily Scott, and two brothers, Merle Leith and Merton Leith. She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Wheat and husband, the Rev. Buddy Wheat of Gatesville; nieces, Betty Payne and husband, Phillip of Abilene, JoAnn Greer of Corpus Christi, Jeannine Peurifoy and husband, Jerry of Rockwall, and Elaine Rigsby and husband, Kevin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nephews, Max Scott of Abilene, Steve and Allan Jones of Borger; a dear brother-in-law, Kenneth Jones of Borger; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
