Opal Ray, 72, of Pampa, died Sunday, March 08, 2015, in White Deer. Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Trinity Fellowship with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, chaplain of Interim Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Ray was born Aug. 12, 1942 in Canadian to Howard and Adeline Woodward and had been a resident of Pampa for 62 years. She married Kenneth Ray who preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2010. Opal worked at Wayne’s Western Wear for 13 years. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. She loved to read, spend time with her grandchildren, and she volunteered at the Trinity Fellowship Clothing Warehouse Outreach for 3 years. Opal loved all animals and volunteered at PAWS. Survivors include 3 daughters, Reba Justice and husband Glenn of Millersview, Joyce Skipper and husband Berry of Amarillo, and Lisa Briggs and husband Tim of White Deer; 4 sons, Tim Ray and wife Christy of Pampa, Allen Ballard and wife Jody of Amarillo, Donald Ballard and wife Irene of Hobbs, NM, and Billy Kennedy of Sherman; 3 sisters, Bea Leftwitch of Lefors, Coelene Stover of White Deer, and Betty Parsley of Amarillo; 28 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Clark, a stepson, Wayne Ray, a brother, Tommy Woodward, and 2 sisters, Faye Stowe and Darlene Leftwitch.
