Dena Marcel Simmons

Dena Marcel Simmons, 52, of Borger, died March 21, 2015 in Borger. Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the Borger Healthcare Center, 1316 S. Florida Street in Borger, with Rev. C. W. Parker, chaplain of Gentiva Hospice of Amarillo, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Miss Simmons was born May 30, 1962 in Pampa where she attended Pampa Schools. She attended St. Mark CME Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Borger Healthcare Center for their loving care and compassion. Dena was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Irvine and Ethel “Kaye” Simmons; a brother, David Fields; an aunt, Nettie Mae Irvine, and an uncle, William "Penny" Watie. Survivors include six sisters, Demetra Simmons of Baytown, Delores James of Odessa, Dionne Simmons of Mangum, Oklahoma, Diana Williams of Jacksonville, Florida, Delecia Cash of Houston and Delencia Fields of Dallas; paternal grandparents, Neva and Ira Thomas of Friendswood; two aunts, Terrie Thompson of Friendswood and Eula Dean Bradshaw of Pampa; an uncle, Herman Watie of Baytown; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
