Everett R. Butler, 97, of North Richland Hills, died April 7, 2015 in Bedford. Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Rev. Doug DuBose, retired minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, with military honors courtesy the U. S. Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Butler was born December 2, 1917 in Northwest Stevens County, Oklahoma to Alvie and Pearl Butler. He earned an Associate’s degree in business from Draughn’s Business College in Oklahoma City. He married Hazel Franklin on May 5, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 29, 2002. Everett had been a longtime resident of the Texas Panhandle in both White Deer and Pampa. He was office manager for Dorchester, CarGray Plant from 1948 until his retirement in 1982. Everett was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a very active church and community leader for many years. He was a member of White Deer United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church in Pampa, White Deer Lions Club and the White Deer Masonic Lodge #1188 AF & AM where he was a 32nd degree Mason. Everett was an avid golfer for many years, and loved playing canasta, forty-two and dominos. He moved to North Richland Hills in 2008. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Butler Putney, and four brothers, Cyrus, Glen, Alfred and Melvin Butler. Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Butler Dibble and husband Carson, and their children Katrina Davis and Kevin Dibble; two sons, Rick Butler and wife Charlotte and their children Angela Butler Webb, Gaye Lynn Butler-Rast, and Rhett Butler, and Chris Butler and wife Janet and their children Chrishena Butler Campbell and Kathryne Butler Pruitt; a brother, Charles Butler and wife Francis; a sister, Sara Ellen Butler Leatham; three sisters-in-law, Margie, Georgia and June Butler; and seventeen great grandchildren, plus one on the way.
