Clara Arnett Achord

Clara Arnett Achord, 84, of Pampa, died Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 15, 2015, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Clara was born on Oct. 11, 1930 in Butler, Oklahoma to Alvin and Gerthie Rhodes Arnett. She married Joe Achord on May 5, 1947 in Liberal, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 2006. Clara lived in Hobbs, New Mexico for several years before moving to Pampa in 1954. She was a dental assistant for Drs. Campbell and Pieratt for 25 years. She was a Baptist. Clara was also preceded in death by a son, Alvin Joe, in 1985, her parents, and a brother, Clyde Edward Arnett. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Bennett, and son-in-law Donnie Bennett of Pampa; a brother, Arland Arnett and sister-in-law Twana Arnett of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Kim Cryer and husband Brent of Edmond, OK and Kelly Bennett and wife Jamie of Jenks, OK; four great grandchildren, Cade and Jace Cryer of Edmond, OK and Timber and Kelson Bennett of Jenks, OK; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Hill of Deer Park; a brother-in-law, Lee Escovedo of Quitman; and by several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Johnny Achord, of Pampa.
