Emilene Mary Rapstine Smith, 85, of Lewisville, died Friday, April 17, 2015 in Carrollton. Vigil service will be at 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer with Rev. Mieczyslaw Przepiora, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in White Deer under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Smith was born September 19, 1929 in Pampa to Emil and Eunice Earp Rapstine, who were early pioneers in the White Deer community. She was a longtime resident of White Deer and a graduate of White Deer High School in 1947. She attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock before moving to the Dallas area in 1962. Emilene was a Catholic and sang with the Dallas Catholic Choir. She had the opportunity to travel to Rome and sing for Pope John Paul II. She was an accountant for Watson and Taylor Investments in Addison. Emilene was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Eunice Rapstine; a brother, Wayne Rapstine; a sister, Christine Rapstine; and a granddaughter, Sarah Lenhoff. Survivors include three sons, Larry Smith and wife Celia of Houston, Alan Smith, Jr. of Azle and Stephen Smith and wife Kasey of Dallas; two daughters, Denise Rowe of San Antonio and Janet Smith of Lewisville; two brothers, Herbert Rapstine and wife Melvia of Abernathy and Wilfred Rapstine and wife Ann of Pampa; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
