Joe M. Pieratt, DDS, 86, of Pampa, died April 22, 2015 in Pampa. Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 25, 2015, at First Christian Church, with Dr. Jeff Knighton, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Dr. Pieratt was born December 24, 1928 in Dalhart, and as a young boy, his family moved to Pampa. During his high school years, he attended the Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. After graduating, he enrolled at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, graduating in 1950. Shortly after, Joe enlisted in the U. S. Army where he served as a medical technician serving during the Korean Conflict. He earned the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After his honorable discharge, Joe enrolled at the University of Kansas City Dental School in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating in 1959. He opened his dental practice in Pampa in 1959, serving his clients and community for over 55 years, retiring in December of 2014. Joe was a member of First Christian Church, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Panhandle District Dental Society. When he wasn’t working, Joe could be found driving his beloved Porsche. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Karl and Mabel Pieratt, and his stepmother, Maxine Pieratt. Survivors include two sisters, Pat Roberson of Dallas, and Karen Jackson of Amarillo; his brother, Kurt Pieratt and wife Deanna of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Panhandle District Dental Society, 10 Care Circle, Suite A, Amarillo, Texas 79124.
