Karen Sue Williams, 60, of Pampa, died May 31, 2015 in Pampa. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor, and Rev. Paul Nachtigall, Interim Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Karen was born on November 11, 1954 in Dumas to A. J. and Lee Etta Ledford. She attended Skellytown and White Deer schools, graduating from Booker High School and completed various college courses and numerous Christian ministry courses. She married Walter W. Williams on March 9, 1973, and they had two daughters, Kari and Lori. Her favorite scripture: Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Karen loved the church family at First Baptist Church in Pampa where she was a member and very involved since 2000. She knew the Lord as her Savior and shared her testimony on numerous occasions. She was a member of various women’s ministry groups and loved spending time with friends and family. She served and worked many years as office administrator for pastors and associational director of missions in various locations they lived. She ministered to many and loved serving our Lord. She loved to read and made sure her house was in order and her children well mannered. She loved her family dearly and prayed for them daily. She cherished her seven granddaughters. She loved them “to the moon and back” as she would say, always deeply involved in their lives. She always had a sack of goodies for them when they came to visit. She was a gracious host, always concerned about the well-being of others, being comfortable and feed. We loved her dearly and she will be deeply missed. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” Karen was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kari Schaffer; and a sister, Patty Smith. Survivors include her husband, Walt Williams of the home; daughter, Lori McGraw and husband Brett of Garden City, Kansas; son-in-law, Taylor Schaffer of Bushland; mother-in-law, Katherine Williams of White Deer; two sisters, Marcy Ruth and husband Randy of Skellytown, and Brenda Madden and husband Bruce of Pampa; two brothers Mike Ledford and wife Chris of Pampa, and Wendell Ledford of Skellytown; brother-in-law, Gearry Smith of White Deer.
