Velma Osborn Lard, 91, of Pampa and formerly of Amarillo, died June 12, 2015 in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Fairview Cemetery, with John Curry, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Lard was born June 13, 1923 in Hollene, New Mexico. She was a 1940 graduate of Pampa High School and attended West Texas State University in Canyon. She then attended radio school in Sayre, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University. Velma married Kenneth E. Lard on August 31, 1947, and moved to Amarillo. She worked with Kenneth in their real estate appraisal business. She was a member of the former San Jacinto United Methodist Church in Amarillo, and a former member of First United Methodist Church in Pampa. Velma was a very special, loving person and enjoyed caring for the birds and squirrels in her beautiful back yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 2009; her parents, V. N. and Mayme Osborn; a sister, Juanita Osborn Gregg; and a brother, Kenneth Osborn. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to BSA Hospice, Christi, and our friends Mary Arndt and Charline Harris for their loving care of Velma. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Eugene Lard, Jr. of Kalispell, Montana; her two daughters, Karen Snell and husband Ron of Amherst, Massachusetts, and Sharen Laurrell and husband Mike of Amarillo; her twin sister, Thelma Bray of Pampa; four grandchildren, Kenny Lard, Lindsay Fisher, Ben Lard and Daniel Lard; two step grandsons, Todd Laurrell and Randy Laurrell; two great grandchildren, Layla Fisher and Alex Lard; and a step great granddaughter, Lyndy Laurrell.
