Cleta Fae Davis was born April 23, 1926 in Mangum, Oklahoma, the oldest of nine children of Wylie and Cleo Davis. The family moved to Wheeler County, Texas when Cleta was 10 months old. She was salutatorian of her graduating class at Mobeetie High School and worked at area military bases near Pampa and Amarillo until she married Oliver G. Trimble on January 1, 1947 at Central Baptist Church in Pampa. Cleta and O. G. spent their adult lives in Pampa and raised two sons, Michael and Barry. They joined First Baptist Church in 1951, where Cleta was faithful in many activities over the decades, including teaching Sunday School classes to children and senior adult women, before retiring from active church life in 2011. Cleta Trimble was, in the finest tradition, a lady. Her hands were seldom idle and she loved to crochet, knit, embroider and sew. She was a remarkable homemaker and cook and her table was always a favorite gathering place for friends and family. Cleta was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Like her mother before her, Cleta took Scripture to heart and strived to the best of her ability to live according to God’s Word and to serve and please Christ. She led a life of quiet dignity and faithfulness, setting an unwavering example of high moral standards for her family and community. She and her husband had compassionate spirits, never hesitating when family or friends needed help or comfort, loving and giving selflessly and unconditionally. Cleta was preceded in death by her husband O. G., her mother and father, sister Wylene Lee and brothers James, Melvin and Aaron Davis. She is survived by sons Michael Trimble of Pampa and Barry Trimble and wife Roxanna of Overton, Texas; grandsons Clay Trimble of Denver, Colorado and Casey Trimble of Garden City, Kansas; granddaughters Amy Baird and husband Tyler of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Nellie Stith of Glendale, California; step grandsons Colby Brazile and wife Lisa of Odessa, Texas and Cooper Brazile and wife Jessica of Midland, Texas; step granddaughters Holly Mills and husband Mark of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Brittany Lundberg and husband Brant of Wichita, Kansas and Kylie Dupuis of St. Martinville, Louisiana; three great grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren; sisters Nellie Williams of Sudan, Texas, Joy Haynes and husband Walden and Sharon Brown all of Pampa, and Glenda Pecka of Tucson, Arizona. Cleta requested that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Youth or Missions, P. O. Box 621, Pampa, TX 79066-0621.
