Marvin Finney, Jr., 66, of Pampa, died July 1, 2015 in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 3, 2015, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Gene Gee, minister of the Lefors Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Finney was born April 13, 1949 in Bristow, Oklahoma. He had been a resident of Gray County since he was a young child, living in both Pampa and Lefors. He was a 1967 graduate of Lefors High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. Marvin returned to Pampa after the war and worked as a diesel mechanic for Waukesha-Pierce Industries and later worked for off-shore drilling companies in Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and the Ivory Coast. Marvin was a member of the Moose Lodge and a lifelong member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed dirt track racing. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Finney, Sr., and Geneva Purvis Gafford. Survivors include two sons, James Finney of Baytown and Trey Finney of Pampa; stepmother, Pat Finney of Temple; 2 brothers, Dale Finney and wife Patti of Amarillo and Jerry Finney of Pampa; 2 sisters, Connie Hicks and husband David of Rogers and DeAnna Quarles and husband Tim of Wheeler; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
