Billie Phelps

Billie Phelps, 90, died July 6, 2015 in Clarendon. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Phelps was born April 22, 1925 in Lindale. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1945, moving from Wills Point. She married John Albert Phelps on November 17, 1946 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2001. Billie was a secretary for Celanese Chemical Company for six years, retiring in 1959. She was also a bookkeeper for Clayton Floral and Your Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Billie was a member of First Baptist Church and Pampa Senior Citizens. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge clubs. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Interim Hospice and Community Care Center of Clarendon for their wonderful care of Billie. Survivors include two sons, Steve Phelps and wife Heidi of Howardwick, and Paul Phelps and wife Pamela of Pampa; four grandsons, Dr. Brian Phelps and wife Constance of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brent Phelps of Chicago, Illinois, Jason Phelps and wife Anita, and Jonathan Phelps and wife Starla, all of Pampa; seven great grandsons, Jacob Honeycutt, John Phelps, Connor Phelps, Carson Phelps, Caeleb Phelps, Leo Phelps and Jack Phelps; and one great granddaughter, Hannah Phelps. Memorials may be made to Pampa Senior Citizens, PO Box 475, Pampa, Texas 79066-0475, or Khiva Shrine Travel Fund, 305 SE 5th Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79101.
