Nicy Mallard Mathis

Nicy Mallard Mathis, 88, of Pampa, died July 5, 2015 in Pampa. Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 9, 2015, at New Hope Baptist Church, with Rev. R. L. Hunnicutt, pastor of Victory Temple in Wellington, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mathis was born October 10, 1926 in Rotan to Horace and Deanna Mallard. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1951. She married Charles Ray Mathis, Sr., on October 9, 1948, and he preceded her in death. Nicy was a house keeper and retired from Pampa Independent School District as a custodian. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Nicy was preceded in death by a son, Charles Ray Mathis, Jr.; three sisters, Mary Hanks, Cardie Hutchison and Versie Lee Mitchell; and three brothers, Roby Mallard, Sr., Ive Mallard and Joe Lee Mallard. Survivors include her son, Payton Mallard and wife Nelvin of Houston; six grandchildren, Sandra Mallard Doyle, Sharon Mallard Maynore, Payton Mallard, Jr., Keith Dewayne Mallard, Patricia Ann Mallard, and Jason Mathis; 18 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
