Mrs. Autry was born September 30, 1935 in the home so dear to the Sherrod family, in Gray County, between Alanreed and McLean. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1986. Jeane was the director of Adult Probation for 22 years, and most recently the director of Pampa Meals on Wheels. She considered it a very enlightening, satisfying way to serve others. She was also a licensed baccalaureate social worker, preparing home studies for the courts in adoption and custody cases. Jeane was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Koinonia Sunday School class and the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Texas Probation Association, and the Texas Corrections Association. Survivors include two sons, Ronny Brown and wife Cindy of McLean and Don Brown and wife Darla of Borger; two step daughters, Vicki Patterson and husband Bill of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jan Rose and husband Tom of Amarillo; one brother, Joe Ed Sherrod of Dallas; a sister-in-law, Brenda Condo of Pampa; two granddaughters, Cassi Rash and husband Marty of Canadian, Tatum Alexander and husband Chris of Dallas; three step grandsons, Clint Patterson and wife Shay of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Heath Rose of Dallas and Zac Rose and wife Michele of Amarillo; eight great grandchildren, Emmaus and Gabriel Patterson, Morgan and Halle Rose, Cambree and Caison Brown and Hagan and Heston Rash; two nephews, Joe Bill Sherrod of Amarillo and Todd Sherrod and wife Amy of Dallas, and two nieces, Cindy Sherrod of Alanreed and Caroline Corse and husband Earl of Mobeetie. She was a loving mother and a doting grandmother. Jeane lived life to the fullest and felt blessed with opportunities to do the things she loved. She enjoyed working in her fabulous yard and staying busy. She felt that “people should never limit themselves because of age, but continue to go for their dreams.” Memorials may be made to Pampa Meals on Wheels, PO Box 939, Pampa, Texas 79066-0939; or First United Methodist Church, PO Box 1981, Pampa, Texas 79066-1981, the two organizations she felt so very passionately about.
