Laven Glen Greer

Laven Glen Greer, 88, of Pampa, died Monday, July 13, 2015 in Pampa. Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, July 17, 2015, at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Norman Rushing, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Greer was born September 9, 1926 in a farm home outside of Woodward, Oklahoma, to Glen R. and Jewell Stone Greer. He married Virginia Becker on August 21, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico. Laven was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was employed by Cabot Corporation and Ingersol Rand, retiring after 38 years of service. His goal in life was to tell everyone he met about Christ. He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years at Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John Franklin Greer and Leland Greer. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Greer of the home; his daughter, Vicki Ferguson and husband Gene of Wheeler; his son, Rev. James Greer and wife Dana of Pampa; his brother, Gary Joe Greer and wife Norine of Pampa; sister-in-law, Gay Nell Greer of Overton; four grandchildren, Jennifer King and husband Douglas, Zackary Greer and wife Jennifer, Jessica King and husband Matthew, and Penny Harvey and husband Nathaniel; and seven great grandchildren, Jessica, Camden, Boone, Aiden, Gavin, Lucian and Landon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 513 E. Francis, Pampa, Texas 79065, or a charity of choice.
