Earnestine Cade

June 12, 1927 — July 16, 2015

Mary "Earnestine" Cade, 88, died July 16, 2015 in Pampa. Memorial services will at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Harvest Fellowship Baptist Church, with Rev. C. W. Parker, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mary was born in Lubbock, Texas on June 12, 1927, and was the youngest of the family. At a young age she learned to cook, do needlework, played with horned toads and loved to watch things grow. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1944, and while in high school, she met her husband, Gene Cade, on a blind date set up by her cousin. They were married 2 years later on May 12, 1946. They farmed in Lubbock, Olton and Morton before retiring and moving to Pampa in 1982. She and Gene were very avid Texas Tech fans, so now heaven will be rejoicing for Texas Tech! In 2011, they celebrated their 65 wedding anniversary before he passed away in August. There were not many plants that she had a hard time helping them thrive and she loved to share vegetables and flowers with whomever would take them. For several years she helped with young children’s programs and as a nursery worker. She wanted them to be loved and cared for but usually she thought she was right - she would let you know it too. For the past few years she had experienced bad health and the flowers really helped her overcome situations of difficulty. She was a super cook and trained three generations to follow in her footsteps. Usually during the day she could be found humming a tune, and most of the time, it would be an old Gospel hymn although she loved music in general. Her alto voice was beautiful. Mary holds a special place in many family members and friends heart. She was loved and cherished greatly and will be missed by many. There was one thing you could say about her when you walked into her room; she had some precious pictures to show off of the family members. She is survived by a son, Danny Cade and wife Donna of Lubbock; a daughter, Marilyn Shelton and husband Lonnie of Pampa; five grandchildren, Brian Cade and wife Sandy of Bozeman, Mt., Brad Cade of Amarillo, Kilyn Shelton James and husband Curtis of Nacogdoches, Audra Shelton Tibboel and husband Kevin of Campbell, and Traci Shelton Baize and husband Todd of Telluride, Co. Some of her enjoyment came from her 12 great grandchildren, Levi Cade, Madison Cade, Hayden Cade, Kason Cade, Konner Cade, Brock James, Mason James, Brady Tibboel, Avery Tibboel, Paige Tibboel, Savannah Baize and Scarlett Baize. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.E. "Gene" Cade; a daughter, Christy Cade; a sister Anna Lee Johnson; her mother, Mary Oshea Snider; and her father, Marion Earnest Snider. As a minister said just recently quoting a scripture, "He who began a good work in you is able to complete it;" this she has done and is rejoicing with her Lord and loved ones. We thank everyone for the prayers and calls of encouragement during her prolonged illnesses. The family offers a special thanks to all the hospice personnel who so lovingly cared for her and the special ladies at the Meredith Place of whom each know who you are. Family requests memorials to go to Sky Camp, c/o Gentiva Hospice, 3232 Hobbs Road, Amarillo, Texas 79109.
