James Edward “Jim” Maher, Sr., 96, of Pampa, died July 23, 2015 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, with Rev. Raj Samala, officiant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church of Groom, officiating. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Maher was born September 2, 1918 in Kenton County, Kentucky. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sargent. Jim married LaDelle Fewell on December 5, 1942 in Big Spring. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2009. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1946. He worked for Thompson Parts & Supply as a salesman for 40 years, retiring in 1987. Jim was an active member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and American Legion. In his spare time, he loved to play golf, and he helped with the construction of the Hidden Hills Golf Course club house. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers. Survivors include three sons, Jim Maher and wife Linda of Piedmont, Oklahoma, David Maher and wife Pam of Amarillo, and Tim Maher of Fort Worth; a sister, Mary Ehmet of Covington, Kentucky; a brother, Steve Maher of Independence, Kentucky; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Memorials may be offered to a charity of choice.
