Mildred Frances Thrasher, 91, of Pampa, died August 5, 2015 in Canadian. Services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Daniel Passini, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the directions of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Thrasher was born May 1, 1924 in Alma, Arkansas. As a young girl, her family moved to Texas, and she traveled to Austin where she proudly attended the Texas School for the Deaf. She later moved to Canadian where she met the love of her life, J. M. Thrasher, and they were married in 1948 at Central Baptist Church in Pampa. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1995. Mildred had been a resident of Pampa since 1968. She was a member of Briarwood Church in Pampa. She was an active lady who enjoyed quilting, line dancing, gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Red Hat Club. Above all, what she loved most was Jesus and her family. And in Mildred’s own words, she had “a good, full time.” Mildred will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Matilda Chaffin; three sisters, Lucille Oliver, Maydell Spruell and Frankie Sue Widner; and two brothers, Harold Chaffin and Buddy Chaffin. Survivors include a son, Kennith Thrasher and wife Linda of Canadian; a daughter, Kay Bowers and husband Doyle of Lubbock, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Our family would like to thank Edward Abraham Memorial Home and Hemphill County Hospice for their loving kindness to our mother. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th Street, Canadian, Texas 79014; or Edward Abraham Memorial Home, 803 Birch Street, Canadian, Texas 79014.
