Leon Weatherly, 86, of Amarillo, formerly of Pampa, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler with Glen Walton, associate minister of San Jacinto Church of Christ in Amarillo, Keith Feerer, minister of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ in Pampa, and Dale Meadows, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Weatherly was born May 29, 1929 in Memphis to Roy and Emma Weatherly. He was a 1947 graduate of Wheeler High School and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from West Texas State University in Canyon. Leon served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and received a bronze star for meritorious service. He married Dortha Mason on May 9, 1953 in Wellington. She preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2012. Leon was a resident of Pampa for about 40 years before moving to Amarillo in 2012. He was an accountant for Beacon Supply and Sidwell Oil & Gas in Pampa for many years. He was a member and elder of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ in Pampa and was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ in Amarillo. Leon was a member of United Commercial Traveler’s Association. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Kandace Weatherly. Survivors include two sons, Steve Weatherly and wife Rhonda of Amarillo and Mason Weatherly of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a daughter, Dreka Nachlinger and husband Ken of Katy; two sisters, Neva Maxwell and husband Furman of Borger and Anita Guynes of Crosby; three grandsons, John Nachlinger of Jackson, New Jersey, Josh Nachlinger of Pearland, and Logan Weatherly of Benton, Arkansas; a granddaughter, Katrina Lopez of San Antonio; four great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Wilma Mason of Pampa; and a brother-in-law, Carl Mason and wife Elaine, of College Station.
