Joyce Lorine Robertson, 80, of Alvin, formerly of White Deer, died Sept. 1, 2015, in her home in Alvin, surrounded by several family members. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane, pastor of United Methodist Church of White Deer, officiating. Burial will follow in White Deer Cemetery. There will be singing and fellowship at the graveside. All are invited to come remember and enjoy her memory with the family singing and visiting. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Joyce was born May 10, 1935, in Greene County, Missouri. She married Art Robertson on June 11, 1965, in Enid, Okla. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1993. She had been a resident of White Deer from 1966 until moving to the Houston area in 2006. Mama Jo or Granny Jo, as she was affectionately called, owned and operated several cafés in the White Deer and Panhandle area, including Buck’s Drive-In, Mama Jo’s Drive-In and The Feed Lot. She also worked for White Deer ISD in their cafeteria, maintenance and janitorial. Mama Jo worked for King Fuels and AO Resources in Houston. She was a member of First Baptist Church of White Deer and White Deer Senior Citizens. Recently she was an active member of Alvin Senior Citizens where she met many friends. She was known far and wide for her homemade rolls and pies. She was a Christian who loved Jesus, family and music of all kinds. Joyce was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Robertson and Ronnie Robertson; a daughter, Linda Black; and a grandson, Little Ronnie Robertson. Survivors include three sons, Eddie Hastings and wife Tammie of San Antonio, Randy Hastings of Pampa and Tim Hastings and wife Tanya of Snohomish, WA.; four daughters, Carolyn Marcum of Amarillo, Linda Jean Robertson and Lois Ricks and husband Rusty, all of White Deer, and Melissa Morris and husband Jay of Alvin; 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Belia Robertson of Houston and Kim Robertson of Odessa; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and beloved friends. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
