Velma L. Gipson, 72, of Borger, passed away September 19, 2015 in Borger. Memorial graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, September 25, 2015 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa with Rev. Paul Burwash of Fairlanes Baptist Church of Borger, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the care of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Velma was born on September 4, 1943 in Borger to Albert and Lucille Maloy. She attended schools in Borger and was a lifelong resident. She worked at the Borger News Herald and at Frank Phillips College for several years. She was a musically inclined woman who loved to play the piano, guitar, and sing. When she wasn’t playing music she also loved to garden whenever she could. Velma was a strong Christian woman who loved her Lord greatly. Ms. Gipson will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Velma was preceded by her parents, Albert and Lucille Maloy; one sister, Marquetta Maloy; three brothers Donovan Maloy, Leon Maloy and Delmer Maloy; a son, Johnnie Paul Gipson and by a former husband, Johnnie Gipson. Survivors include, three daughters; Judy Blemmel and husband Jerry of Talihina, OK, Raedella Mitchell and husband Richie, and Anita Fortuna and husband Michael, all of Borger; one brother, Aubrey Maloy and wife Mary of Anniston, AL; a sister-in-law, Jonell Vaughn and husband Austin of Silsbee; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
