Gary Ray Stevens, 72, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, October 23, 2015, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with John Curry, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, with military honors courtesy of the U. S. Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Stevens was born Sept. 7, 1943 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to Oscar and Edna VanKirk Stevens. He married Donna Bradt on Sept. 4, 1965 in Waynoka. Gary was a veteran of the U. S. Navy from 1962-1965. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1954 where he first worked for Cabot Corporation. In 1979, he became a fireman with the Pampa Fire Department and became the department’s first cross trainer in 1988. In 1989, Gary became assistant fire marshal and was the fire marshal from 1994 until his retirement in 2005. He was a Baptist and was a member of the Las Pampas Koi and Garden Club where he served as president. Survivors include his wife, Donna Stevens, of the home; a son, Rusty Stevens and wife Yelena of Pampa; a daughter, Danielle Baker and husband Brad of Pampa; a sister, Vera Barton and husband Bart of Pampa; four grandchildren, Chelsea Mayers, Gunnar Stevens, Garrison Stevens and Gracie Stevens; three step grandchildren, Danny Vizcarra, Sean Baker and Haven Baker; a niece , Mary Edna Barton; and a nephew, Kip Barton.
