James D. Smith, 65, of Pampa, peacefully passed away October 31, 2015, in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Yates, Interim Hospice chaplain, officiating. Cremation will follow the services, and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Smith was born August 10, 1950 in Shamrock. He married Patti on November 15, 1969 in Friendship, Oklahoma. James has been a resident of Pampa since 1975. He worked for the Pampa Regional Medical Center for 25 years in the maintenance department retiring in 2010. James loved to fish, work on cars and watch Nascar. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. James loved spending time with family and being there whenever anyone needed him. James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hazel Smith; a brother, Bob Smith; a sister, Atha Mae Wright; and a daughter, Misty Santacruz. Survivors include his wife, Patti of the home; a son, Adam Smith and wife Missy of Pampa; a son-in-law, Tony Santacruz; a brother, Millard Smith of Altus, Oklahoma; a sister Rita Richardson of Elk City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Kali and husband Johnny, Kambra and husband Matt, Ramon and wife Elizabeth, Garrett, Trevor and Jayci; eight great grandchildren, Jazlynn, Abigale, Michael, June, Jax, Leo, Anthony James and Cash. The family extends a special thanks to Interim Hospice, and Debbie Douglass and Jim Yates with Interim, for their loving care of James. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
