Christene (Chris) Hudson Romines

Christene (Chris) Hudson Romines, 94, of Pampa, went to her eternal reward on Monday, November 9, 2015 in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. Dallas Stringer, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Romines was born April 15, 1921 in Montague County to Les and Myrtle Hudson. She was raised by a precious aunt and uncle, Nannie and Jimmy Hannon. She attended school in Forestburg and lived in Pampa, Borger and New Mexico. Christene married Mack Romines on January 12, 1940 in Panhandle. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1967 in a Dallas hospital. They had two children, Jerry David (who passed away at the age of 18 months), and Joyce. Christene accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in First Baptist Church of Eunice, New Mexico, and became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pampa in 1967. She served on several committees, including helping with Sunday school and twenty-five years of preparing and serving funeral dinners. She worked for twenty-five years in C. R. Anthony’s ready wear department, enjoyed crocheting, sewing and baking for her visits with the elderly. Christene is survived by a daughter, Joyce Seals and husband Jack of Pampa; two grandsons, Mackal Smith and wife Cynthia of St. Louis, Missouri and Brian Smith of Rolla, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Elliott Smith and wife Paige of Chicago, Illinois, Brandon Smith and wife Hannah of St. Louis, Missouri, Chelsie Smith of California, and Amanda Smith of Rolla, Missouri; three brothers, Skeeter Hannon and wife Joyce of Borger, Jimmy Hannon and wife Betty, and Harmon Hudson of Shamrock; four sisters, Evelyn Armor and Wanda Hickey and husband Ray, all of Arkansas, Barbara Guillory and husband Steve of Louisiana, and Alene Rafkher and husband Bill of Arkansas; brother-in-law, James Romines and wife Vivian of Pampa; sister-in-law, Gloria Romines of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 900 E. 23rd, Pampa, Texas 79065. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
