Juanita "Nita" Harkcom

Juanita “Nita” Harkcom, 92, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors, with Rev. Ken Houston, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Lefors and Dale Meadows, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa. Mrs. Harkcom was born October 17, 1923 in Kerns. Nita married Ferguson Harkcom on February 19, 1943 in Ft. Worth. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1977. Nita has been a resident of Lefors since 1944. She was a nurses aid at Highland General Hospital and Pampa Regional Medical Center for 23 years retiring in 1985. Nita was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lefors. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Rene Dunnam, Louise Combs, Estelle Galliack, Bobby Hokum and Jerry Manbeck and two brothers, Cecil “Red” Jernigan and Clarence Jernigan. Survivors include her daughter, Fran Moore and husband Richard of Lefors; son Richard Harkcom and wife Lori of Lefors; sister, Opal Helm of Ft. Worth; sister-in-law, Wanda Jernigan of Saginaw; four grandchildren, Kim Burns and husband Cody of Hooper, Colorado, Jennifer Brown and husband Andy and Craig Harkcom and wife Darcy all of Pampa, Jesse Callaway and wife Hailey of Lefors; one great granddaughter, Darian Harkcom of Pampa; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 409, Lefors, Texas 79054 The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:oo PM Monday, January 11, 2016, at the funeral home.
