Claude D. Clay, 72, of Pampa, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on January 8, 2016 in Pampa. After several months of suffering, Claude is now resting in peace. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Dale West, lay minister at First United Methodist Church, officiating. Claude was born on August 6, 1943 in Wheeler to Bradford and Mary Clay of Pampa. Claude and Helen married young on August 2, 1963 in Pampa. They grew up together and took care of each other through the years. Claude went to Pampa High School and soon thereafter worked at his father’s Phillips Gas station. He then ran several other gas stations in Pampa before getting into the auto sales business where he worked at, then opened a few other auto sales dealerships through the years, in Pampa. Claude and his wife Helen worked side-by-side throughout their marriage at their auto sales businesses. Claude was a resident of White Deer, Texas since 1979. He is survived by his wife Helen of 53 years, daughter Tammy Harris, her husband Randy Harris and their children Tori and Connor Harris of Mustang, Oklahoma; sons Mike Clay and Brad Clay of White Deer, Texas; Brad’s son Braden Clay; sister Billie G. Varnon of Liberty, Missouri and many other family and friends. Claude was preceded in death by his parents Bradford and Mary Clay and sister, Janice Hollon of Amarillo, Texas. Claude was greatly loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
