Evelyn "Jerry" Rhoads

October 31, 1925 — January 17, 2016

Evelyn “Jerry” Rhoads, 90, of White Deer, died January 17, 2016 in Midland. Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, January 21, 2016 at First Baptist Church in White Deer, with Rev. Alan Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Jerry was born October 31, 1925 in Lubbock County. She was reared in Cotton Center where she attended school. She married A. E. “Dusty” Rhoads on July 3, 1948 in Lubbock. They moved to White Deer in 1956 and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1996. Jerry worked as a teller for First Bank & Trust in White Deer. She was proud of her contributions to the war effort at Pantex where she worked building munitions. Jerry was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in White Deer. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her son, Terry Rhoads and wife Jenny of Midland; a daughter, Tina Rhoads of Pecos; three grandsons, Michael Rhoads and wife Nicole of Midland, Tyler Rhoads of Denver, Colorado, and Beau Hendrick and wife Laura of South Lake; two granddaughters, Jamie Rhoads of Midland, and Megan Sewell and husband Jesse of Waverly, Tennessee; six great grandchildren, Ellie, Maddie and Jake Rhoads, Evelyn Sewell, and Tristan and Tatum Hendrick; and extended family. Jerry was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the people of White Deer for their friendship and loving support of Jerry. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 337, White Deer, Texas 79097; Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, PO Box 1980, Amarillo, Texas 79174-0001; or a charity of choice. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa.
