Cecil McCarrell, 91, of Pampa, died January 31, 2016 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 4, 2016, at First Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Jimmye Cole, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with VFW honors courtesy of VFW Post 1657. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. McCarrell was born April 21, 1924 in Bogata, Texas. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1946. He married Thula Moore on April 17, 1946 in Cone, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2011. Cecil was a mechanic for Cabot Corp. for 43 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a witness of the signing of the peace treaty with Japan. Cecil enjoyed fishing and was an avid football fan. He was a member of the VFW Post 1657. Survivors include two sons, Gary McCarrell of Salida, Colorado, and Garvin McCarrell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a daughter, Sheila Darnell of Amarillo; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 500 N. West, Pampa, Texas 79065.
