John Brookshire, 76, died February 20, 2016 in Pampa. Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Brookshire was born February 29, 1939 in Tabler, Oklahoma. John married Barbara Sue Broadbent on March 2, 1967 in Pampa. She passed away on May 2, 1991. He has been a resident of Pampa since 1966. John was an oilfield operator for Windsor Well Service in the 1970’s and 1980’s and Curtis Well Service for 15 years. He loved the outdoors, going to the lake to fish, and enjoyed spending time with family. John was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Waulita Brookshire; two grandsons, Jeffrey Eugene Brookshire, Jeremy Bryant Brookshire; seven brothers and his lifelong friend Otis T. Johns. Survivors include a son, Richard Brookshire of Pampa; a daughter, Melissa Brookshire of Abilene; a sister, Linda Alfaro of Ada, Oklahoma; a brother, William Chisum; his ex-wife, Wanda Roland of Pampa; three grandchildren, Kelsey Freelen of Pampa, Kwince Nelson and Kiana Nelson both of Abilene; and two great grandchildren Mylah Nelson and Kehlani Hall both of Abilene.
