Donna Elaine Tolleson Anderson

Donna Elaine Tolleson Anderson, 80, of Pampa, passed from this life on February 21, 2016 in McLean. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Briarwood Church, with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Anderson was born March 26, 1935 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma to Lois Alta and William Herbert Tolleson. She attended schools in Lone Wolf, Hobart, and Mangum, and graduated as valedictorian of her class from John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City in 1953. Donna attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie. She then transferred to the University of North Texas, graduating cum laude in 1957 with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and business education. She received her Master’s degree in education in 1960. Donna was awarded an NDEA grant in geography and attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. She received her certification for educational diagnostician from West Texas State University in Canyon. She married Frank Daniel Anderson of Waxahachie on September 3, 1955 in Faith Tabernacle in Oklahoma City. They moved to White Deer in 1957 and both taught school for five years. They then moved to Pampa where she taught eight years at Travis Elementary, and then was an educational diagnostician for twenty-seven years, totaling forty years in education. She was co-owner with Frank of Anderson Photography for 33 years. In addition, she was also employed by Psychological Corporation (Pearson Company) for seventeen years and was involved as a contract examiner, assisting in the standardization of psychological and educational assessments. Donna was past president of Alpha Iota chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota. She was a fifty-year member of Beta Delta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was past president of Gray-Roberts chapter of the Texas State Teachers Association and for many years was an active member of Pampa Classroom Teachers Association. She was currently a member of Pampa Retired Teachers Association and a life member of Texas State Teachers Association and National Education Association. Donna attended Briarwood Church. She was a former member of First Assembly of God Church where she assisted as youth director, church pianist and taught Sunday school classes. Survivors include her husband, Frank Daniel Anderson of the home; a daughter, Valerie Halvorson and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City; three granddaughters, Tracie Anne Grace and husband Taylor Christ of Sedro Woolley, Washington, Terra Truitt and Roselyn Halvorson, both of Oklahoma City; a grandson, Thomas Daniel Calkins of Olympia, Washington; a great grandson, Benjamin Daniel Grace Christ of Sedro Woolley, Washington; sister-in-law, Mable Tolleson of Westminster, California; brother-in-law, Floyd William Anderson and wife Bethel of Carrollton; five nephews; and one niece. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William J. Tolleson; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Esther Miller.
