Judie "Nana" Mayberry

Judie “Nana” Mayberry, 71, of Pampa, died March 1, 2016 in Pampa, Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2016, at Briarwood Church, with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor, officiating, Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mayberry was born May 17, 1944 in Amarillo. She was a 1962 graduate of Borger High School. She married Bill Mayberry on March 12, 1963 in Borger. She was a military wife who lived in various duty stations until 1976. Judie had been a resident of Borger and Dumas until moving to Pampa in 1993 where she was the activities director for the Alzheimer’s unit at Pampa Nursing Center until 1996. She also worked at the Pampa Senior Citizens Center, and after she retired, she helped raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Misti Vela and husband Moe of McLean; two sons, Stormy Mayberry and wife Wendy of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Dusty Ray Johnston and wife Susie of Vernon; a sister, Donna Sue Monden and husband Bobby of Stinnett; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Judie was preceded in death by her parents, Lawton and Juanita Marcum; two brothers, Thomas Wallace Marcum in 1983, and Dennie Ross Marcum in 2002; and a great grandson, Jerrick Zane Allen in 2005. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Tasha and Christy for their care of Judie.
