Michael Dean (Spanky) Copeland

Michael Dean (Spanky) Copeland, 59, died March 6, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Memorial graveside services will be 2:30 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Michael was born March 1, 1957 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Dean and Carolyn Copeland, longtime Pampa residents. He was a 1976 graduate of Pampa High School and a 1978 graduate of Frank Phillips Jr. College. He worked with the Sayre, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Department and the Elk City, Oklahoma Police Department for several years before moving to Clinton, Oklahoma, where he was with the Police Department for 22 years. Michael married Martha Aldridge who preceded him in death in 2014. His hobbies were golfing and fishing. The family would like to thank Susie Staus and Chuck and Carol Goodall for their loving care and loyal friendship. Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Copeland of Pampa, Texas; two sisters, Neysa Brown and husband Joe of Pampa, and Nan Rivera and husband Arcadio of Amarillo, Texas; two nephews, Erik Brown of Pampa, and Adam Rivera of Amarillo; and two nieces, Brooke Mooney of Pampa, and Hannah Rivera of Amarillo. He was also preceded in death by his father, Dean Copeland in 2013. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Police Department Retirement Fund, 401 W. Gary Blvd., Clinton, Oklahoma 73601.
