Alvin L. Soukup, 88, of Pampa, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ruby Moultrie, pastor, and Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane, pastor of White Deer United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Soukup was born December 22, 1927 in Burns, Kansas. He married Peggy Heckard on March 28, 1952 in Canton, Kansas; she passed away on May 12, 2014. Alvin has lived in Pampa since 1954 and been a member of First United Methodist Church of Pampa since 1958. He worked for Phillips Petroleum for 38 years, before retiring. Alvin was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a member of Pampa Masonic Lodge #966, Scottish Rite in El Paso, Khiva Shrine in Amarillo, Pampa Order of the Eastern Star #65, and Pampa Senior Citizen Center. Alvin was involved for many years in the Pampa Sportmans Club and he loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Clarice Soukup; brother, Bill Soukup; and a grandson, Jerry Keith Soukup. Survivors include his daughter, Pam Stahl and husband George of Hays, Kansas; two sons, Mike Soukup and wife Lawaine and Jerry Soukup and wife Joyce, all of Amarillo; nine grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
