James LeRoy Slater, 67, of Pampa, died April 7, 2016, in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Kyle Ohsfeldt of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at the Roache Family Cemetery near Anadarko, Oklahoma, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Slater was born September 13, 1948 in Pampa where he had been a lifelong resident. He attended the Church of God as a young man. He married Andrea Elaine Horton on October 18, 1995 in Stinnett. LeRoy worked for Conoco Phillips as an operator for 22 years, retiring in 2011. Survivors include his wife, Andrea Elaine Slater of the home; four sons, Jimmy Slater and wife Christie of Pampa, Joshua Henry and wife Lisa of Kyle, Trevor Slater and wife Lacy of Fort Worth, and Adam Slater and wife Jessica of San Antonio; daughter, Jamie Cruz and husband Carlos of San Antonio; stepson, Frank Rodriguez of Roswell, New Mexico; stepdaughter, Letty Gardner and husband Dan of Glendale, Arizona; brother, Wayne Slater and wife Barbara of Pampa; three sisters, Nadine Moore and Maxine Howell and husband John, all of Pampa, and Kay Smith of Chesapeake, Virginia; brother-in-law, Gerald Wyche of Pampa; 22 grandchildren; three nephews, five nieces and many cousins. LeRoy was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Hoyle Slater in 1986; his father, Joseph Hogg Slater in 1988; and a sister, Shirley Wyche in 2009.
